I have spent the past few weeks really trying to change the way i pray. Focusing on the wrong things is a big issue for me. My prayers are way more of MY KINGDOM COME then THY KINGDOM COME.

Galatians 5 says The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.

My prayers are changing from things like "God if you could just _____ in this situation so I could be happier" to something like "God whatever happens in this situation I want to be more like you, help me to see the things you are showing me"

When I was getting married I read a marriage book called The Sacred Marriage. The sub-title is "What if God designed marriage to make us holy more then to make us happy?"

I would challenge you to take the biggest issue in your life right now and pray not that God would make you happy but Holy. Pray for patience not a big chunk of Cash! Pray for Kindness not to be proven right. Pray for faithfulness not an unmistakable sign from God.
