Giving Gifts From Gifts
It’s been a crazy weekend around our house and God has really been teaching me a lot about gifts. Here are three quotes that I have heard in the past three days.
*My wife to someone who needed a place to live for a few weeks, “Our house was a gift from God. You are not intruding, it’s not even ours so please come and stay with us.”
*A Guy I work with to me from his recent vacation “since somebody was letting us use their beach house for free we decided to invite another couple who could never afford a vacation like that.”
*A woman from Saint James responding to me thanking her for an extremely nice thing she did, “oh don’t worry about it, God blessed me so I better be helping others. If God didn’t use me to help you out he would have used somebody else, Thank God, Not Me!”
I’m learning to give gifts from every gift.
If somebody buys me lunch, I will buy something to bring back for somebody else at the office.
If I find twenty bucks on the ground, I will give half of it away.
If somebody has done some of my work and freed me up, I will help and free somebody else up.
If somebody gives me a vacation house, I will invite somebody else there with me.
Today at work when somebody gives you a gift of any kind, give a gift from the gift. I am becoming more and more convinced that God does not give me gifts that end with me. His death on the cross was not just for us to keep. He tells his disciples after meeting with them to go and give this gift of salvation away.
