No doubt you have heard the news about New York Governor Eliot Spitzer being involved in a prostitution ring. It is yet another reminder of the power of sin in this world. Sin does not just take over one day, it creeps into your life inch by inch. I guarantee that Gov. Spitzer never would have thought this would happen to him. I am sure he never would make the choice to engage with a prostitute if simply asked point blank. This was the culmination of a ton of what seemed to be small harmless decisions.
Could this happen to you? You bet it can, this is why it is so important to guard our character at all costs. Your wife/husband and children depend on you doing it. Ask yourself what are the stupid choices you are on the verge of making that will deliver a knock out blow to you and wreck your life.
When you are traveling who are you accountable too? How honest will be with your taxes? Who knows what you look at on the internet?
Emerson wrote "the force of Character is Cumulitive." The decisions you make are putting you on a path to somewhere, is it where you want to be going?
The question I always ask my self is this "what if this impact of the decision I am about to make was multiplied by ten." It's only ten dollars. I will only be alone with her for 30 minutes. It's only one of my kid's games. Would I still do it? Most often not.
There a ton more questions to ask but you know where you are most vulnerable. Protect yourself relentlesly and don't let sin creep in. Accontability is the key, be sure you have it.
