I am wore out. My day off is Friday so Thursday for me is like everybody else's Friday. Spent ALL of today in a Staff Meeting. If that won't wear you out I don't know what will. Got to do some cool planning and if you are involved in our Student Ministry we have some BIG cool changes on the way.
In our meeting today we went over a talk Andy Stanley gave at Catalyst this year and I thought I would post some notes. As our Church gets bigger and bigger systems that used to work no longer work. So we need to be constantly changing and we spent a good part of today talking about what "system" changes we need to make.
Here are the notes:
*There are systems that are conducive to ministry and organizational systems that impede ministry
*There are systems that free leaders and systems that obstruct leaders.
*Systems are you way of getting things done.
*SYSTEMS CREATE BEHAVIOR
*Sermons do not create behavior SYSTEMS CREATE BEHAVIOR
*The systems that you have will impact what your staff and volunteers DO.
*Anytime you hear well our people just won't.... you are listening to someone who doesn't understand the influence of Systems.
*Systems have a greater impact on organizational culture then do missions statements.
*Mission Statements hang on walls. Systems determine what happens down the hall.
*If a new leader casts a new vision and never addresses old systems, nothing changes.
*The NT does not present us with a comprehensive system or model of Church.
*In the NT we discover what the early church DID. The NT does not lay out a comprehensive plan instructing church leaders what to DO.
*Always differentiate in scripture what is PRE-scriptive and what is DE-scriptive.
*Principals from scripture that should be integrated into our systems: Delegation Acts 6 & Exodus 18, Accountability Acts 15, Authority Romans 13, Interdependence Paul's Example, Seeking Counsel Proverbs & Acts 15
